Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

This chapter certainly sets up some things for the blue light. Claire has mentioned it before—Master Raymond had the blue light. Now McEwan has used it, and we know that this is the reason Roger’s throat no longer hurts. The blue light is a healing light.

We also know that Claire will come into her full powers. That will likely mean a blue light. This is something that some time travelers have the ability to use, and I feel like bringing it up now is foreshadowing that it will become a more important plot point later.

As for mentioning who Buck’s parents are, I think this sets up the coming plot. We know what happens between Buck and Geillis. Buck is a little impulsive at times, and we’re about to see that.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I would like to see the chapter used in the TV series. I think it will be considering that Buck, Dougal, and Geillis are all part of Outlander Season 7 at some point. I have a feeling that we’ll see all of Buck’s storyline play out. It doesn’t have to take up a lot of time when you consider how little of Buck we’ve seen in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood so far.

This is a great way to show who Buck is and how he thinks. It’s also a good way of showing how Roger thinks, and how there is an element of Buck in him—it was somewhat impulsive to tell Buck the truth.

I also want to see Roger fully healed and the thoughts of the blue light. This would need to be in conversation with Buck, though.
