When the list of actors returning to film House of the Dragon Season 2 was released, Graham McTavish was missing from the list. What does this mean?
The House of the Dragon Season 2 production has started. TVLine reported a list of names returning to film, with one Outlander name missing from the list. Graham McTavish wasn’t listed there.
Is it possible that he won’t return for the second season? Was his name not on the list because he won’t immediately return? Or could his exclusion be to help keep some of the storylines a secret? Here’s a look at what could be going on with McTavish’s character Ser Harrold Westerling.
Is Graham McTavish in House of the Dragon Season 2?
With the way things ended in Season 1, it’s possible that we won’t see Ser Harrold return. When Otto Highwater ordered him to take his Kingsguard to Dragonstone and kill Rhaenyra and her family, he refused. He would only take orders from the king, and at that moment in time, there wasn’t one. Otto may have thought he was acting on behalf of the king, but there are now questions about whether Aegon Targaryen is the rightful heir or not. We’ve entered the Targaryen civil war.
Ser Harrold is loyal to Rhaenyra. He threw down his cloak and walked away, making it clear that he is no longer the Commander of the Kingsguard.
He could be heading to Dragonstone to support Rhaenyra, but he wasn’t seen in the finale when Otto Hightower did go to Dragonstone. So, this could mean that he was killed along the way. Or maybe he is currently in hiding and waiting to see who is crowned. The ending saw Aegon crowned, but we know the civil war is happening. That coronation means little to some.
There is currently no word on whether Ser Harrold will be back or not. If he’s not, hopefully, the show mentions him so we know what happened instead of always wondering.
House of the Dragon Season 1 is on HBO Max to stream.
