John and Hal get back to Chestnut Street in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 93

John and Hal certainly need some good brandy on hand in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 93. Getting back to Chestnut Street reveals a lot more for the two.

I love that John has no idea what happened to the door when they get back. It looks like Claire didn’t tell him everything when he was detained. Well, maybe she did and John forgot about it considering all his injuries.

This chapter is about getting us caught up with things that have happened. We’re told rather than shown the events, which is an annoying thing about this chapter. I would have loved to see the meeting between Benedict Arnold and the Grey brothers.

The chapter does offer some foreshadowing when it comes to William and his acceptance of who he is. It also includes a lot of plot development of what’s to come, and keeps the reminder of Richardson as a threat to everyone.

Will the chapter be used in the TV series, though? I’m in two minds, but I’m leaning towards no. I’ll get to why that is in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 93.
