Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Ian waking up from his delirious state. It turns out that whatever Denny had to do to fix him was painful, and Ian was given a lot of laudanum. It’s no wonder he was delirious.

Rachel has returned from taking Fanny and Jane to safety, which suggests that Ian was out for a couple of days at least. This also tells us just how bad of a shape Ian was in. We don’t really get the full idea of it up to this point.

While Ian was out, he kept talking about Geillis. Rachel wants to know who this woman was, so Ian tells her the basics of the story. It gives Rachel an idea of the type of past Ian has had to live. This also gives Ian a chance to confess to killing the two Native Americans. He explains that he felt compelled to do that.

Will Rachel leave him? She quickly thinks it over and decides not to. Instead, the two will have to marry very soon.
