Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

The foreshadowing here is in how William is warming up to the idea of being like Jamie. He hears that he has a good part of Jamie: being a good man. Isn’t that what a lot of men want to be told? That they’re good? Rachel sees that in him, and he sort of accepts that it’s a side of Jamie that he respects.

I think there’s also the foreshadowing of William slowly accepting who he is. This doesn’t mean that everything has to change for him. Hal has made it clear that he still views William as his nephew, and Jamie may not be all that bad as his biological father. He’s angry about the situation, but he’s slowly coming to terms with it.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

The conversation between Ian and William is certainly worth including. The TV show didn’t have William falling into the privy, though. That’s going to cause some problems for some of this conversation. However, there could be another event that makes Ian realize who William is just based on looks. That could be the event used in the series instead of mentioning the privy incident.

The conversation could be added in anywhere, though. We don’t need to see everything with Ian being injured and potentially close to death for this conversation to happen. It’s why I’m in two minds about this chapter being used in Outlander Season 7 or Season 8.
