I don’t see much in foreshadowing in this chapter. This is more about plot development and showing us more of who William and Ian are.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I’m always in two minds when we get to William and Ian chapters about whether they’ll be included in the show or not. There just isn’t that much time. However, recent images suggest that the Battle of Monmouth is going to take place in Outlander Season 7, which could mean we have some time to see everything play out.

If the show wants to make Ian and William more integral to the story, then we’ll likely need some of these moments of the two in the battle. However, there is so much going on with the battle and with the future storyline for Bree and Roger that there may not be enough time for it all. It’s better to reduce the time for lesser-known characters than Claire, Jamie, Bree, and Roger.
