Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 74 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
This chapter doesn’t foreshadow all that much. It sets up the next part of the story for the battle. It’s clear that everyone is getting into their positions.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I could see some of this chapter used in the TV series. I’m not sure about the Jamie and John parts, although they would work in a small section. It’s more about the Claire part. We need to see how people still look down on her because she’s a woman. Sure, she’s shown that she is a good surgeon and is able to treat the wounded, but not everyone has seen that.
Leckie has his biases. This is one of them. I want to see Claire argue and then be resigned to staying outside of the church.
I’d also like to see Denny and Claire’s conversation about bravery. Bravery comes in a variety of forms, and I love that we see that in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood with the Quaker siblings. I would love to see this play out in the TV series. There should be time for it.
I would like to see the bit with John. The problem is I’m not sure there’s time for all of this, so I think out of all of this chapter, it’s the one bit that will be skipped over.
