Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 71 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
This chapter certainly foreshadows things for Jamie and John’s friendship. It’s strained right now for obvious reasons, but things are sure to work out. Jamie still wants John to survive. He still wants to make sure his friend gets out of the sticky situation that he’s currently in—and I’m not talking about the honey in the eye!
I think there’s also some foreshadowing of trouble for Claire and Jamie to come. The truth will always come out.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I would like to see this chapter used in the TV series. I think some of John’s storyline is going to be kept to a minimum. There just won’t be time to include it all. However, I think that we’ll see this point where John is at risk of being found out as a spy—even though he’s technically not, but now he could be viewed as one.
After all, we need some drama for Claire and Jamie. This is the way to get that drama.
We’ll also see the lead-up to this battle. There’s no way the series can avoid this since the show has made it clear the Boston Tea Party has happened. There’s far more to come.
