Jamie worries about Lord John Grey trying to escape in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 71

Jamie has a lot to worry about in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 71. Who would have thought part of that would have been Lord John Grey?

It’s interesting. Up to this point, Jamie hasn’t informed Washington about Lord John Grey. Should the man, who others have heard could be a spy, escape, it’s going to cause problems for Jamie and Claire. After all, they have been hiding John in their tent.

All this certainly foreshadows a few things for Jamie and John’s friendship. It may be strained, but it’s not over.

Meanwhile, Claire wants to figure out how John and Percy are connected. Do they have feelings for each other? Is Percy a danger to Fergus and Germain? She also shares a little bit of what’s going to happen in the future, making it clear to John that she is a time traveler.

I could see this chapter used in the TV series, but it will depend on whether we get everything for Lord John Grey up to this point. There will likely be some elements condensed, but I think we’ll see all this play out in one episode. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 71.
