The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die synopsis
The movie takes place after the events of the first five seasons of the series. If you haven’t watch them, you’ll want to take some time now to binge-watch. Then move onto the movie.
It picks up with the death of King Edward. Uhtred learns of a prophecy. Seven kings will die and it will bring the unification of England. This is something King Alfred always wanted, and his son Edward attempted to achieve that. It failed, and now it is onto Edward’s son, King Aethelstan to unite the different kingdoms of England.
Is that going to be possible? To start with, Aethelstan needs to be chosen as king. It’s not just passed on like it is now. Then there are multiple threats, including the Danes that still control York and King Constantine of Scotland who is ready to declare war.
The series is loosely based on history. If you know of Aethelstan’s achievements in 927AD, you will know how this should all play out. Just who are the seven kings who will die? Is Uhtred one of them?
The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die is on Netflix on Friday, April 14.
