Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 69 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
There is some foreshadowing in the conversation between Claire and John. I think deep down, Jamie knows that John told him the truth because of the respect for their friendship in a way. I also think that Jamie knows that John was the safest person for Claire under the circumstances. Logic and emotion don’t always add up, though.
However, Claire realizes the type of friendship John and Jamie have in this chapter. They are close, and they have told each other things. I think this foreshadows that there is hope for the two of them to become friends again. It’s just going to take some time.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I would like to see this chapter used, especially if we see Ian and William preparing for the day. We need to see the way everyone handles the situation. I’m just not sure if everything with John will be used. I can’t tell if everything with Hal and Dottie will be included, and without them, some of the conversation with John may not make sense.
However, I want to see John share why he confessed to Jamie. I want to see Claire see how close John and Jamie are. And I want to see this moment as they both realize it could be the last they see of each other. They have a friendship that seemed highly unlikely at first, but I love it, and I want to see it play out on screen.
Of course, I also want to see Jamie walk up to his men and see their faces light up. I need to see his worry that he doesn’t know these men but see that they do respect him.
