Claire sees John the morning of the battle in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 69

Claire is the one getting ready for battle in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 69. It does mean a few minutes with Lord John Grey.

This chapter is a relatively short one, and really it just ties a few things up before Jamie and Claire go into battle. Claire will be there as a surgeon. That’s where she is always going to be whenever Jamie goes into battle. After being a World War II nurse, that’s not all too surprising. She is made for this.

Before she goes into battle, there’s a patient she needs to see. It’s time for a moment with Lord John Grey, which she realizes could be the last moment with him. This allows her time to catch him up on things with Hal as well as trying to figure out what was going on in his mind when it came to confessing things to Jamie.

I think there is a bit of foreshadowing in this chapter when it comes to John and Jamie’s relationship. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

As for the adaptation, I’m not sure if it will be used. I think it will in a way, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
