Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 66 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
I don’t feel like this chapter foreshadows that much. We get to see Ian’s preparation for battle and to understand his war paint. This is more of just a bit of information to help understand Ian’s headspace ready for the battle to come. Yes, he’s concerned about death, but I don’t think he’s worried about it all that much.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I would love to see the explanation of the war paint in Outlander, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. The TV show hasn’t explained a lot of the Mohawk culture since Ian has been back. That being said, neither did Diana Gabaldon throughout the books up to this point. This is the first time we’ve got to understand the meanings behind his symbols as he goes into battle.
I would love to have a novella of Young Ian with the Mohawk. I’d also love a spin-off series created of Ian with Emily and his full life with the Mohawk. I know that there was one episode to tell the basics of the story in Outlander Season 6, but that wasn’t enough for me.
