Jamie and Claire share time with mosquitoes in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 65

There’s a calm before the storm in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 65. Claire and Jamie spend some time almost alone. Do mosquitoes count?

This is one of those quiet chapters that allows us some time with just Claire and Jamie. It’s been some time since we’ve had this, especially with all that time of Claire being married to Lord John Grey. We need this—and the couple needs this too.

I love how we get these moments. They show us just how the two are still connected. I think even without physical intimacy if they couldn’t get it, they would have the emotional intimacy, and that’s more important than anything to keep a marriage strong. These two are certainly two people to take inspiration from when you want a marriage to work.

That’s not to say they aren’t interrupted. Instead of being interrupted by people, they’re interrupted by tiny creatures.

The chapter doesn’t foreshadow anything. It’s a calm before the storm, and I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

I do hope it’s used in the TV series. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 65.
