Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 63 breakdown
Just the Outlander chapter
The chapter is a short one, and starts with Claire getting the honey that she needs. Multiple times, Claire has reminded us that honey as antibacterial elements to it. It’s like she forgets herself that this is the case. She uses a syringe to inject the honey into the eye socket. Not only does it help to fight against infection, but it will also offer some lubrication for the eyeball.
John doesn’t really want to admit that he is no longer in a lot of pain, but he has to. After all, once again, Claire has helped treat him and he does feel a little more like himself again. It can’t be easy to thank her when it was her husband who did this to him.
With that done, Fergus and Germain can go in search of food. This gives Claire and John time to talk about Percy. Claire wants to know what Percy wants, but she doesn’t believe that Fergus is the heir to a fortune. I guess part of her can’t get her hopes up that Fergus could be set for life in this way, or what it could mean for him and his life now.
One thing she does note is that there is tension between Percy and John. John doesn’t want to talk about this, and Claire has to drop it.
