Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Jamie returning to Claire. She makes sure to treat Rollo, and then she enjoys some banter with her husband. After that, she goes out to treat those who need her.

When she returns to her tent, there is someone rummaging through her medicine chest. This is Jared Leckie, who has zero respect for Claire’s medical knowledge. That’s not too surprising when you consider how a lot of men act around Claire as a surgeon. She’s a woman, so she clearly can’t do the job—sarcasm, if you couldn’t tell.

It’s time for Jamie to inspect the militia. Claire goes with him to see if there are people who can’t fight due to injuries. That’s when Jamie and Claire see John in the lineup. Jamie wants to throw John in a cell, but Claire makes it clear that he needs medical attention. That has to come first. I love that we see Claire step in once again to save John’s life.

Claire is able to repair John’s eye. He was in a lot of pain with it, and he’s certainly grateful that Claire has fixed it. She also makes it clear that he has nothing to worry about when it comes to the liver; that’s on the other side of his body.

Percy shows up shocked that John is there. Claire immediately realizes that they have a past, but John explains that they were stepbrothers. Germain, who has been around the whole time, still doesn’t like Percy. He doesn’t trust the man after he came asking questions about Fergus.
