Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 61 breakdown

Jamie and Claire see John in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 61

We knew it was going to happen at some point. John is finally caught out in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 61, but it does mean he gets the medical attention that he needs.

It was clear that eventually John would be caught out as a spy. Of course, it was by Jamie, who immediately recognized him. Claire is the one who helps protect the man, though, and I love that she does that.

Not only does John need medical attention, but Claire doesn’t want John in any more trouble than he needs to be in. Jamie is angry, sure, but John is in this situation partly because of what Jamie did.

I would love to see this chapter play out in the TV series. I get a sense that it may do as it brings up more tension for John and Jamie. I’ll get to my thoughts on this in the adaptation section.

Does it foreshadow anything, though? I think there’s a bit of plot development when it comes to Percy, but I don’t see all that much in the way of foreshadowing. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.
