Ian gets some words of advice from Jamie in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 57

We get a chapter from Ian’s perspective in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 57. There is a lot going on in the American camp.

We get to see life in the lead-up to a battle in the American camp in this chapter. The women are tending to the cooking, while the men prepare for the battle. It’s a very standard way of doing things in the past, and there’s not really too much to take away from it.

However, we get to see Ian’s thoughts on a few things. The first is trying to balance his wish to be a better man for Rachel and his need to fight. The second is how to make love to a virgin. I absolutely love that he turns to Jamie for advice on this, who actually does have some experience in the matter but that interestingly doesn’t come up.

There is some sad foreshadowing in this chapter when it comes to Rollo. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

Just for the humor of this chapter, I really want to see it play out in the series. I also think we’ll get to a point where Rollo’s story comes up, and I want to see the warning of that happening.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 57.
