Claire explains how to prevent pregnancy in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 55

Claire spends some time explaining how to prevent pregnancy throughout Outlander Book 8, Chapter 55. She also needs to deal with a woman unknowingly in labor.

This chapter adds some humor to the story, but it also gives us time to get to know Dottie and Rachel more. It all starts with Dottie asking questions, but when Rachel turns up, she also wants to learn more about what Claire knows about the female reproductive system.

I just love that these two women trust Claire to tell them these things. They barely know her, yet they know she will tell them the truth and help them with their future husbands.

I do get a sense of a little foreshadowing in this chapter. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

I expect to see at least some of this chapter used in the TV series. I’m not sure if Dottie will be part of the story, but this chapter works with just Rachel if necessary.
