Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 54 breakdown
Claire meets more people from real history in Outlander Book 8. Chapter 54
It’s time for Claire to meet more people from real history in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 54. Washington is just one of those on the list.
The chapter doesn’t really add much to the story. This is more of just a chance for Claire to connect with people she’s read about in history books. One of those is George Washington, but there are more who pop up.
Claire does take the time to ask Jamie what he would have done if he didn’t have the life he did. I’m surprised Claire hasn’t thought too much about the life Jamie could have had if he could travel through time. I know there’s no point thinking of that, but the brain isn’t always logical!
There isn’t that much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter. We’re all about setting the scene for things to come, although you can tell from the place name that there is going to be a reunion eventually.
As for using this in the TV series, as much as I would love to see Washington return, I don’t think it’s all that necessary. I’ll get to that in the adaptation section.
