Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

This chapter certainly foreshadows things with Denys. It’s clear that his story isn’t quite finished. We met him in An Echo in the Bone and we haven’t seen him since. However, we do know that he isn’t to be trusted.

All this chapter does is make it clear that people tend to travel in the same circles. I do wonder if there’s some sort of commentary about souls in all this, but that’s getting deep for this post.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I don’t think we’ll see this chapter used in the TV series. I think the only time Denys will be mentioned is if he turns up, then we may see Claire remember who he is. There’s just no need for this chapter in the TV series otherwise.

There’s so much more going on in the world of Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. It’s not clear how much of it will be used in Season 7 and how much of it will be held for Season 8, but we know that Outlander Season 8 is going to be the last and with only 10 episodes. That means some of these smaller chapters that lead to nothing aren’t really going to be included.
