Ian and Rachel prepare to marry in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 48

We get back to Ian and Rachel in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 48. It’s time for them to marry.

I love seeing the different religions and how they marry and go about other events in life. We learn more about the Quakers in this chapter, as Rachel and Ian are hoping to be married by Friends. Ian is choosing Rachel’s way out of love.

What happens if people don’t want to marry Ian and Rachel? Well, Rachel has such a simplistic way of looking at this. The religion has a simplistic way about this. It doesn’t really matter if others won’t marry them, although I feel like deep down it would matter to Rachel.

We get caught up with Denny and Dottie in this chapter, too. We find out why the two didn’t meet Ian and Rachel at the meeting point, and we can blame Henry for this.

There is a little bit of foreshadowing in this chapter, and I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section. Will the chapter be used in the TV series? That’s where I’m not sure, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 48.
