Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 47 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
This is a great chapter to set up the plot for the next part of the novel. It’s clear that we’re staying in the past, and the Revolutionary War gets started.
The only real foreshadowing is Claire’s thoughts about Benedict Arnold. He’s still on the side of the Continental Army for now, but how long will that be? We and she knows that Arnold with turn coat.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I expect to see this chapter used in the TV series. We need to see Jamie in his uniform, and we need to see the conversation of Jamie going off to battle. I also really want to see the part with Germain. While it’s not overly important to the story, I want to see Jamie as a grandfather trying to keep his grandson safe, and I want to see Germain every bit like his father.
There’s no reason not to include this chapter as it sets up so much. I do think it will be left for the final season, though.
