We get back to the 18th century in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 47

We start Part 3 of Outlander Book 8, and that means a trip back to the 18th century. It’s all about what’s next for Claire and Jamie.

This chapter picks up not too long after we ended things for Claire and Jamie. It’s time to get the plot moving forward when it comes to Jamie’s part in the war. Claire hopes to get back to Fraser’s Ridge are dashed when she sees her husband in the Continental Army uniform.

We also get some great moments with the children. Germain is the past, as we get echoes of how his father was during the Jacobite Rising. I absolutely love this, but it’s clear that Germain is not going to end up sneaking off like his dad once did.

The chapter is just the start of things to come. I get a sense of a tiny bit of foreshadowing in this, but not too much. We’re just starting off the plot.

I do expect to see the chapter used in the TV series, although probably not until Outlander Season 8. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 47.
