Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There isn’t much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s all about plot development. All this tells us is that Bree is relying on Joe the way she has in the past. He knows about time travel, and now she needs him to look after things while she’s gone.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I’m not too sure we’ll see the chapter used in the TV series. This is all going to depend on whether Wil Johnson will return to the series or not.

I would like to see Joe used in other ways in the series. I want to see Bree turn to him for help with Mandy’s heart surgery instead of it happening off-page. I want to see Bree tell him everything so we know that Joe knows the full truth. That could happen in Outlander Season 7, and if it does, we could see this chapter.

However, we can get everything from this chapter through Bree just writing a letter to Joe. She could just mention Joe to the children as they get ready to time travel. There’s no real need for this chapter to keep the story going.
