Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 44 breakdown
Roger explains everything to Buck in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 44
How do you explain dog tags to a man from the 18th century? That’s something Roger has to figure out in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 44.
I love that we see Roger simply trust Buck in this chapter. Up to this point, Buck has proven himself to be trustworthy. He is in some of it for himself, and we need to figure out what that is, but he is also there for Jem.
What I love is Buck’s idea of dealing with Black Jack Randall. Wouldn’t we all love to take out Black Jack right now? It would solve so many problems for the Frasers, but Roger has a reason not to do it. Some of the bad parts of history need to happen for the good parts to play out.
There is some foreshadowing in this chapter, and I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section. Could we see this play out in the series? I think so, but I think the bulk of the part with the dog tags isn’t going to happen until the start of Outlander Season 8. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 44.
