Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Roger and Buck still going through the motions of finding Jemmy. They’re still sure he’s in the past, but the Camerons, who have been receptive to the two, are shocked to hear that one of their own would do this. There’s also been no word of Jem.

Roger and Buck head back to Lallybroch, passing Cranesmuir along the way. Roger would like to see Dr. McEwan again, but can’t do that just yet. McEwan won’t have any more information. So, they head straight to Lallybroch.

While there, they find out that Brian has something for Roger. They also learn that a new captain is at Fort William, and that captain has taken a liking to Jenny. As Brian retrieves the package from the hidden compartment in the desk, Roger and Buck talk outside. Roger explains who Black Jack Randall is, describing him as a sadist and having to explain to Buck what that is.

When Roger and Buck go back to Brian, Roger is confused and then surprised by the package. They are World War II dog tags with “J.W. MacKenzie” engraved in them. These belonged to Roger’s father, and this leads to a lot more questions about what happened to Jerry MacKenzie all those years ago.
