As we wait for more Outlander, we need to turn to other shows. Daisy Jones and the Six is a great historical fiction piece with some excellent music.

There are some excellent shows out there to get you through Droughtlander. Prime Video has some newer offerings, with Carnival Row Season 2 as one of the latest ones to watch. Now it’s time to check out Daisy Jones and the Six.

The new Prime Video series is based on the book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid. If you’re looking for something to read during Droughtlander, this book is certainly worth it, but we’re focused on the show for this post.

What is Daisy Jones and the Six about?

The TV series follows the story of a rock band from the 1970s. Daisy Jones and the Six were at the height of their success when suddenly they just stopped performing. Nobody knew what had happened, but 20 years later, they are finally ready to tell their story.

The series follows how The Six started out but came to an end. It follows how Daisy ends up joining them, helping to improve on the songs and bring the band to new heights. Then there’s the love triangle that forms between some of them, leading to problems for the band and some of the reasons they broke up.

Why watch Daisy Jones and the Six during Droughtlander

This isn’t a series set in the 18th century, but it is a show set in the 1970s. If you love the costumes from early Outlander Season 4, then this is a series for you. With the music, there are certainly going to be elements of the story that remind you of Roger and Brianna’s lives before they traveled through the stones.

The songs are a big reason to watch the show. Every single one that The Six perform has been written for the series. It’s the actors’ vocals you can hear singing them all, and yes, you can certainly hear that Riley Keough is the granddaughter of Elvis Presley in her vocals.

This is a story about a band. It’s a story about people. When you look at the heart of Outlander, that’s what you get there, too.

The first three episodes are available now. There will be three more episodes on Friday, March 10, and then two episodes per week for two weeks after that with the final on March 24.

Daisy Jones and the Six has three episodes on Prime Video right now.
