Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 38 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
This chapter makes it very clear that Rob is not done with his search for the gold. He now needs Craigh na Dun, which suggests that he believes everything about time travel and wants to do it. Can he do it, though? Does he have the gene? I would have thought if he did, he would have heard something while at work.
The chapter doesn’t foreshadow all that much. We know Jem is going to struggle with the fear for a while. Bree and Roger will have his back when they get back to him.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I hope to see this chapter used in the TV series. We need to see Jem’s panic attack. It’s important to see how the trauma has affected him. We’ve given so many voices to people on TV over the years, and now it’s time to give a child a voice. Show people that children shouldn’t have to be resilient.
There is a chance we’ll see this chapter used. This section is small enough to fit easily into an episode or two. It could even be spread across half of Outlander Season 7, as Bree and Roger’s storyline is pretty small once they get to their own time period in An Echo in the BoneRob Cameron. There hasn’t been anything about Iona Claire returning as Fiona, but that doesn’t mean she won’t. We know is in the show.
