Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 37 breakdown
Roger meets another time traveler in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 37
The healer gets to Buck in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 37. It turns out there is something special about the man.
The healer’s name is Hector McEwan, and he is shocked to realize that he knows Buck. I get the sense that he doesn’t mean he actually knows the man, but that he knows what the man is. It turns out this man is also a time traveler, and it looks like sometimes they are able to connect. It does remind me a little of how Geillis was immediately suspicious of Claire.
The good news is Buck is healed thanks to the healer. However, this isn’t through any natural means. Hector has a blue light coming from his hands, and this is something that stands out to Roger (and to us).
I’m not sure if there’s that much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter, though. It’s more about plot development and furthering the idea of more time travelers around.
Will the chapter be used in the TV series? I want to see it used, and I think it will be. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
