Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 35 breakdown
Just the Outlander chapter
The chapter starts at Fort William. Captain Buncombe is the commander at the garrison, and he takes down the descriptions of both Jemmy and Rob. The soldiers will keep an eye out for them both.
Brian has brought some homemade whiskey for this. He knew he would need it. You’ve got to keep the English happy at times, right? It gives all the men a chance to talk, but it also gives Roger time to think. Can he really trust Buck? What if Buck has been working with Rob Cameron all along?
His thoughts are interrupted with Jenny arriving. She received word from Buck in Inverness that Buck needs Roger’s help. It takes a day and a half to get there, but Roger arrives to one of the crofters to find out that Buck is having heart problems. Brian notes that Buck looks a lot like the MacKenzies before leaving. We know that Buck and Dougal are supposed to look similar.
Roger stays with Buck, who manages to survive the night. The crofter heads out for a healer while Roger remains by Buck’s side. Will Buck manage to live? What is wrong with him? All that’s still to come.
