Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 31 breakdown
Roger learns more about Brian in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 31
We head back to the 1730s in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 31. It’s time for Roger to learn a little more about Brian.
I love seeing these two men together. They are men who should never meet, and yet time travel has made it possible. Brian gets to find out what his grandson-in-law does without realizing who Roger actually is to him, and I think we see some respect within it.
Meanwhile, Roger gets a chance to hear more about who Brian is and what he fights for. There’s also a chance to learn a little more about Ian Murray, someone who we lost in the seventh book although Roger doesn’t know that yet.
I don’t see a lot of foreshadowing in this chapter. This is a chance for two people to get to know each other and for Roger to ponder what could have happened to his son.
Will it be used in the TV series? I certainly expect it to be used, and I’ll get to why that is in the adaptation section of the post.
Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 31.
