Roger meets the Frasers of Lallybroch in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 29

We head back to the past in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 29. Roger gets to Lallybroch, but it’s not the right time period.

Roger gets to meet a young Brian Fraser, who is more than happy to help find Jemmy. This is also a chance for Roger to meet Jenny, and I love what this could set up for the future in the books. It’s been a while since I read Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone (when it first came out) so I can’t recall if Jenny recognizes Roger now.

Anyway, the chapter itself sees Roger get to Lallybroch. He doesn’t find Jem, though. Instead, he’s struck with a feeling of doom of sorts as he knows what’s to come for Brian, Jamie, and Jenny.

There isn’t really all that much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter. I feel like this chapter is mostly about plot development and the focus of time traveler questions.

I want to see this chapter used in the TV series, and I suspect that it will. After all, we know Andrew Whipp will return as Brian Fraser in Outlander Season 7.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 29.
