Bree and Mandy set out searching for Jem in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 28

We continue the story in 1980 in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 28. Bree and Mandy go on the hunt for Jem, and we find out where Jem still is.

I love this chapter for the bravery of the three chapters. Mandy is so calm as she focuses on her brother to find him. We get that sense of the ability Mandy has, and Bree is just accepting of that.

Bree also thinks about what she’d like to do to Rob Cameron to get answers about Jem. Of course, shooting him isn’t really an option. With Roger gone, Bree is all the children have left.

Then there’s Jem, who is still in the tunnel. We see him learn to be brave around all the big noises that are in the tunnel, giving us a chance to see him as just a child for a few minutes.

This chapter certainly foreshadows a few things. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section. I fully expect to see it used in the TV series, and I suspect it will be in Outlander Season 7 instead of Season 8. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 28.
