Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 23 breakdown

Jamie gets back to John’s house in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 23

The characters start to come back together in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 23. It all starts with Jamie getting back to Lord John Grey’s house.

Of course, he’s there for Claire, but she’s not there at this point. She’s already left for Kingsessing, so Jamie ends up walking into a mighty strange situation. Jenny has a gun aimed at Hal Grey. What?

Denny Hunter shows up, and that naturally causes problems with Hal. After all, he’s learned the truth about Denny and Dottie, and Hal is not happy with the situation at all. Yet, Hal needs Denny’s medical help.

Then there are Rachel and Ian who get back. This is a much happier reunion as Ian realizes that Jenny is still alive after all.

This chapter certainly pushes the plot forward for a lot of characters. I also think we get some foreshadowing for how Jamie will react with Claire and John when he sees them. I’ll get to all of that in the foreshadowing section.

I fully expect to see this chapter play out in the TV series, and I’ll get to why that is in the adaptation section.
