Claire thinks about Benedict Arnold in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 22

We’re back with Claire in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 22, and it’s clear that she’s going a little stir crazy in the house. She needs to get out.

That leads to her writing a fairly humorous letter to Denny. I love that she trusts Denny’s surgical skills to help treat Hal, but she also makes it clear that bringing Dottie is a very bad idea. Their relationship needs to remain quiet right now.

Then Claire manages to get to Kingsessing. Well, that’s where she is heading for the day, and she comes across Benedict Arnold along the way. We know, just as well as Claire does, that Benedict is going to turn coat at some point. That comes up in Claire’s thoughts in this chapter, and I think all of us reading it wonders the same things.

The chapter certainly foreshadows things to come for Benedict Arnold. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

Will it be used in the TV series? Well, we know Benedict Arnold has been cast, so it’s certainly possible.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 22.
