Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I don’t see too much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s mostly about plot development. John and Jamie are making their way back to the same place and the same person.

I guess a little bit of foreshadowing is in the way Jamie interacts with Patience and Prudence. This could be a look at how he’ll interact with other young girls who end up meeting him, mainly Fanny, who we haven’t met yet in the books.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

Will this chapter be used in the TV series? This is going to depend on how much of Jamie and John’s storylines will be used. If we see Jamie stuck with the Hardmans for a bit, then I think we will see this. It’s not going to take up a lot of time. If we see John’s storyline of escaping capture, then I do think this chapter is going to be important.

It’s all about time available at this point. Some of the storylines in the eighth book could be skipped over and adapted heavily to fit into the episodes available. This is especially if the show wants to try to fit in Book 9 and potential storylines from Book 10 into the final season.

If the story finishes with Book 8, then we’ll likely see all of these storylines play out in full. There should be enough time, and the characters deserve it.
