Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Jamie as he makes his way back to Philadelphia. He’s hoping to catch a ride along the way, but the focus is on the present. Jamie is with Prudence and Patience.

I love that we see him interact with these girls. We’re reminded of who he could have been had he raised Brianna, and we get to see the man he can be with his grandchildren once they get back to him.

This scene is a little peaceful for him. I get a sense that it’s a calm before the storm, though.

As for John, he ends up being woken up by soldiers with the Continental Army. He needs to think on his feet to avoid being captured again. He shares that he was captured by the British and they think he’s a spy. However, he claims to be on the American side.

I love that we get to see John’s survival skills. There is a hint of Frank about him. After all, Frank could lie convincingly and so can John. He manages to fit in with the soldiers. It’s enough to get him back to Philadelphia, and that’s all that matters at this point.
