Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter opens with the soldier at John’s door. Jenny is explaining that Hal went off to find John, and Claire makes it clear that she doesn’t know where John is. She is worried about him, and she’s also worried about Jamie.

The soldier explains that the British Army is moving out and all Loyalists should get ready to leave. It’s clearly not going to be safe for them. He then sees the broken banister and questions it. Jenny makes it clear that it was just a family quarrel. Whatever must this soldier think about that?

With the soldier gone, Claire and Jenny can discuss Jamie. Where is he? Jenny thinks the print shop if soldiers were after him, but Claire knows he would come for her regardless of the danger. That’s how they are. Jenny is still going to the print shop to see Fergus and Marsali. Nobody will pay attention to an old woman.

If she can’t get back, she’ll send Germain with word. Why wouldn’t she come back? Jenny reminds Claire that Ian still thinks that she’s dead. What if she comes across her son? There’s going to be some explaining to do.
