Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

The foreshadowing ni this chapter is in Jamie accepting the command. He becomes a general and notes that this is a position he can resign from. It’s clear that Jamie is considering this as soon as he can, and it foreshadows what is to come.

I also think it’s foreshadowing William’s story. William also resigns his position, but not as a way to protect himself. He does it to figure out who he is and distance himself from Lord John Grey.

Adapting An Echo in the Bone chapter

I would like to see this chapter used in the TV series. With Mrs. Hardman and her children, we get to understand some of the things the everyday people had to go through with the war. It’s not something TV shows have the time to show, though, and I’m sure Outlander won’t get that time.

If this chapter is used, there will need to be a mention of Jamie already meeting George Washington. That doesn’t happen in the books, but Jamie knows all about the man from Claire. In the series, Claire and Jamie met Washington long before the Revolutionary War was even considered. Jamie will remember that, and I’d like to see him and Washington have a moment of “I’ve met you before.”

The chapter is important for Jamie’s part in the militia. This is important for storylines later on. I could see this chapter being used for the Washington moment but that’s about it.
