Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 6 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
It’s clear that Hal is safe in Claire’s hands, but he may not believe that. He doesn’t know who she is. Not really. All he knows is that she’s lied about where his brother is. However, he must know that she saved his son’s life.
I think this chapter foreshadows the type of protector Germain is going to be. This foreshadows all the guilt that he will feel when it comes to the death of one of his siblings. He feels like his parents are mad at him, and even hate him, for it. He’s such a protective force like Fergus, and we get a glimpse of that here.
There’s also some plot development in this chapter. Getting Hal to John’s place pushes the plot forward for Hal, Claire, John, and Jamie.
Captain Richardson being there to talk and then just disappearing is also foreshadowing something dark happening. Richardson doesn’t like Claire, but I feel like this foreshadows that it’s more than just espionage. He knows something about her.
Adapting An Echo in the Bone chapter
It’s hard to say if this chapter will be used in Outlander Season 7—or Season 8. I’m sure we’ll see Hal turn up at the house, but will it be under the same circumstances? This is going to depend on how much time the show has available to do all of this.
At this point, it’s hard to say if any of Book 8 (at least, Claire and Jamie’s parts) will be used in the series. Will we even get Outlander Season 8? That is up for debate at the moment as STARZ is still to confirm anything.
