Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 3 breakdown
Jenny and Claire get to clear the air in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 3
We pick back up with Jenny and Claire in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 3. It’s time for the air to be cleared.
What I love about this chapter is that it doesn’t take too long for the air to be cleared. There are no real apologies, but they’re not needed at this point. Jenny is sincere in calling Claire her “good-sister,” and Claire knows that this means Jenny is offering an olive branch. She isn’t going to not take that olive branch.
Another bit that I love about this chapter is how even Mrs. Figg gets caught up on everything. She certainly loves Lord John Grey, but I have to chuckle at how she’s not that bothered about John not being important enough to be taken as a hostage. Not being important is sometimes a very good thing.
I would love to see this chapter play out, and I do think it will. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
What about foreshadowing? I certainly think there is a little bit of foreshadowing, but not too much.
Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 3.
