Has Outlander Season 7 finished filming? (January 2023 update)
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were on getaways over Christmas and the New Year. Does that mean Outlander Season 7 filming is finished?
You may have noticed Instagram posts from Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. Both were off on “mini getaways” during the holiday season, and it’s raised one big question. Does that mean Outlander Season 7 has finished filming?
After all, that would make sense, right? STARZ has announced that the season will premiere in the summer, and we know post-production takes a long time. We have some disappointing news, though.
Outlander Season 7 is still filming
The mini-getaways were just that, mini-getaways. They weren’t long celebrations or time off after filming.
As with previous years, the cast and crew took some time off during the holiday season. This allows everyone a chance to see friends and family, which is what the holiday season is all about, right? With how long filming has been going on, the cast and crew certainly deserved the break.
Sam Heughan had previously shared that filming would go on until at least February or March 2023. We know filming will start back up soon, although the show is rather quiet with these things. This helps to avoid spoilers being leaked, which we know Matt B. Roberts dislikes seeing.
This continues the suggestion that Outlander Season 7 is going to be split into two parts. There’s a chance we’ll get the first eight episodes in the summer and then have a break until 2024. Then the remaining episodes will air.
At least we have the teaser trailer to tide us over for now. We’re ready to see what’s in store for the Frasers, MacKenzies, and more.
Outlander Season 7 will premiere in summer 2023 on STARZ. For now, catch up with all six seasons.
