Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
This chapter certainly foreshadows more for Jem and Mandy. The two are connected, and they have abilities that others don’t. This could be due to both their parents being time travelers instead of just one parent being one.
I do think there’s some foreshadowing of Mandy being the one to keep the MacKenzies together when they go through the stones. We learn in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone that Mandy is the one who gives them all something to focus on to keep them together, and I think this chapter makes it clear that Mandy and Jem have some big abilities.
It’s also clear that Bree and Mandy are still in trouble. We know that Rob Cameron has gone to see Bree and has her in his clutches. Will Rob get Mandy and try to go through the stones with her?
Adapting An Echo in the Bone chapter
I want to see this chapter used in Outlander Season 7, but I’m in two minds over whether it will happen. I want to see Jem being resourceful and calm, and I want to see this connection between him and Mandy play out on screen. However, this scene could be rather scary for children to film, so the show could skip over it. I hope they don’t!
