Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
There is a little bit of foreshadowing in this chapter in the way he will react when he learns about Claire and John marrying. He understands the need to marry to protect someone. I don’t think the marriage itself was the bit that bothered Jamie. He could understand and respect that John married Claire to save her life.
What bothers him is the way the marriage was consummated. That’s not surprising considering John’s thoughts. I think we get a sense of that within this chapter.
Adapting An Echo in the Bone chapter
It’s hard to say if this chapter will be used. Maybe there will be a thought of using the ether again, considering that came up in Outlander Season 6. However, I’m not sure we’ll get the full thought process. I’d prefer to see Claire consider going back to her own time than to stay in the past where she’s in danger.
As for Jamie’s part, we’d need to see him discuss all this to someone. It could be a stranger on the boat he’s on, or it could be Jenny. Either way, the only way this part of the chapter works is for Jamie to talk it out.
