Lord John Grey brings bad news to Claire in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 93. That news also leads to a shocking proposal.

It’s the chapter that we have all been waiting for. The moment Lord John Grey proposes to Claire. It’s the moment they get married, and we get the full details of how and why this comes about.

Both learn that the Euterpe has sank. All the passengers have been lost, and John knows that this comes from a reliable source. Well yes, that is true, but Jamie and Jenny weren’t on the ship. We learned that in the previous chapter, but Claire and John don’t know this.

To make matters worse, Claire needs protecting. Richardson is coming after her, and John refuses to let her be arrested. So, he proposes marriage.

This chapter has a lot of plot development in it rather than foreshadowing. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

As for adaptation, I expect to see this happen in the series. I’ll get to that in the relevant section of the post.
