Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with John worried about his nephew still. He is also concerned with his appearance. His uniform needs some repair, and some of it he can do. However, he does note that he looks better than the man he needs to see, William Howe. Howe may know of a British surgeon to help Henry.

On the way to see Howe, John sees William. The two embrace, and it’s time for them to catch up. John can’t help but comment on the way William looks. He’s dirty, which shouldn’t be surprising considering the travel he and his men have just had. Everyone who has come in with William is happy to be so dirty.

Dottie comes to see William, and the two discuss how they are both in love with Quakers. This is going to cause problems for both of them. Little does William know that Rachel is in love with Ian, who also loves her.

John notices that both Dottie and William are in love. Up to this point, he thought they loved each other, but that’s now clearly not the case. William shows very little interest in Dottie at all, and John knows that means he’s just not into her. So, who is he into?

We get to meet Mrs. Frigg in this chapter. She is a Black woman John has hired as a cook. John loves her cooking so much that even her foul language doesn’t bother him. We also get to find out a little more about Howe not being there for Burgoyne when needed, but even now, John still can’t get to the truth of what actually happened. He decides it’s a mixture of a few reasons.
