Outlander Book Club: An Echo in the Bone Chapter 73 breakdown
John and William are reunited in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 73
We head back to Lord John Grey, who is still trying to figure out what to do for his nephew in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 73.
Tensions continue to rise as the war continues. The Americans are now looking at getting rid of their British hostages, and John is worried about that. He decides to take a stand and make it clear that he is a member of the British Army by wearing his uniform. It needs some repair, but it will do for now.
He needs to find a surgeon, but the chapter changes focus. John sees William, and the two are reunited. This leads to Dottie and William being reunited, and John thinks that the two are in love. It turns out they’re not in love with each other, and that’s something John sees.
We also get to meet Mrs. Frigg, who John has recently employed. Will she stick around? It certainly seems like John would like her to.
I feel like this chapter foreshadows trouble to come. It’s clear that the Americans are looking to get rid of their British hostages, but at the same time, the British are coming into the area. What does this mean? And we see John notice how William is a man in love but not with Dottie. Does it foreshadow future changes?
I would like to see this chapter used, and I think it will be. I’ll get to that in the adaptation section.
Let’s dive into An Echo in the Bone Chapter 73.
