Ian kills a man to protect Jamie in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 68

Rachel views Ian as a violent man, and we find out if that’s the case in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 68. Ian is very much like Jamie in the way that he will kill to protect.

This chapter has a lot going on with Ian. There’s a conversation about his love for Rachel, there’s an echo back to Jamie and Laoghaire at the very beginning of the book series, and we see Ian consider killing Rollo as an act of mercy. Yes, that is a lot to unpack.

Meanwhile, we get a reminder of an event from Dragonfly in Amber. That man who spat in Claire’s soup is back, and this time Jamie finds out what he wants. He knows of something Jamie did due to a man named Willie Coulter.

This chapter has a lot of plot development. The point of it is to get Claire and Jamie out of the rebel camp. After all, they were supposed to be going to Scotland, and I’ll get to all this in the foreshadowing section.

If things in the camp take place, I could see all this playing out in the adaptation. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into An Echo in the Bone Chapter 68.
