Outlander Book Club: An Echo in the Bone Chapter 61 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
The foreshadowing in this chapter is certainly in the William and Ian section. It’s clear that Ian and William both have feelings for Rachel. As of right now, Ian doesn’t seem like he’s going to act on them, but that will change. After all, it’s the first time we’ve seen a woman who isn’t Emily really take over his mind.
There is trouble for the cousins. I just love that William still doesn’t realize that Ian is his cousin, and yet they have taken a liking to each other. William just doesn’t want to admit that.
I also think that we have foreshadowing of William leaving the British Army. This all comes with William learning the truth about Jamie, but I think there are other reasons mixed in there based on this chapter and the one before.
Adapting An Echo in the Bone chapter
If any of this chapter is adapted, it’s going to be the end of it. We may get to see more of William and Ian interact. They have such a big part, especially when it comes to Rachel. I think having this play out will give us time to see Ian’s feelings for Rachel.
However, I doubt the Mohawk camp will be included. We’ve already seen Ian fight the man who took Emily from him. We’ve also seen Ian move on from that, opening up the door for Rachel.
I don’t think there’s going to be much of Jamie and Claire with Daniel Morgan and the wives. This isn’t all that important in the grand scheme of things, and we know the Frasers and Ian will head to Scotland in Outlander Season 7. It’s a lot to fit into the series, and some of these smaller, less important parts will end up being skipped over.
